LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This EFORT Educational Webinar will focus on complex elbow fracture management.

The elbow remains one of the most "unforgiving" joints in the human body, where the margin between functional recovery and permanent stiffness is razor-thin. This webinar provides a comprehensive deep dive into the management of high-complexity elbow trauma, ranging from acute injury patterns to the management of late complications.

Our international faculty will guide you through the technical nuances of adult Monteggia fractures and the strategic decision-making required for multi-column injuries and dislocations. Furthermore, the session addresses the "salvage" aspect of elbow surgery, focusing on corrective strategies for distal humerus malunions. The webinar concludes with an interactive, case-based discussion designed to challenge your clinical instincts and refine your surgical planning.

The objectives of this Webinar are:

  • Identify and classify complex Monteggia variants in adults to ensure appropriate restoration of the proximal ulna and radiocapitellar joint.

  • Formulate a strategic pathway for the management of elbow fracture-dislocations, prioritizing the sequence of stabilization (bones vs. ligaments).

  • Evaluate techniques for malunion correction in the distal humerus, including the use of 3D planning and stable internal fixation.

  • Analyze Clinical Outcomes and common complications of elbow trauma to optimize post-operative rehabilitation and minimize joint contracture.

  • Critically assess alternative surgical approaches through the presentation of complex clinical cases and peer-to-peer discussion.
