LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) remains one of the most challenging complications in modern orthopaedic surgery, demanding a nuanced understanding of evolving diagnostic tools, preventive strategies, and pathogen profiles.

Organised by the Orthopaedics Education Group (OEG) of the EFORT Education Committee, this global webinar brings together international experts to explore PJI management through a multidisciplinary and regional lens. From the complex interplay between host, pathogen, and implant to cutting-edge diagnostic workflows and regional management variations across the Asia-Pacific, participants will gain valuable insights into optimising patient outcomes.

By attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate Risk Factors & Prevention: Understand the complex interactions between host factors, pathogens, and prosthetic implants to implement effective PJI prevention strategies.
  • Assess Diagnostic Innovations: Review current evidence-based approaches and diagnostic criteria to accurately identify PJI in clinical practice.

  • Understand Regional Management Challenges: Analyse key challenges and clinical strategies in managing periprosthetic joint infections from an Asia-Pacific perspective
  • Recognise Pathogen Diversity: Identify global and geographic variations in PJI pathogens and their implications for targeted antimicrobial and surgical strategies.
